      Beat the Heat with Reliant

      Serves as a cooling center for individuals needing to escape high temperatures.

      Community Relations Specialist

      The community relations specialist helps clients connect with services such as emergency food, emergency assistance with rent and utilities, medical support, job readiness workshops, and other issues affecting clients.

      Department of Neighborhoods — Inspections and Public Service

      The City of Houston Department of Neighborhoods Inspections and Public Service division seeks to improve the quality of life in neighborhoods by reducing substandard living conditions. Report nuisance conditions such as overgrown lots, dangerous buildings, rubbish, unprotected holes, and stagnant water. Report to City’s Service. Helpline at 3-1-1.

      Functions as an one-stop-shop to serve anyone needing assistance with completing applications for health service programs. Eligibility for Houston Health Department Health Centers can be determined on-site. Provides application completion for Harris County Financial Assistance ProgramTexas Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Healthy Texas Women program.

      Get Moving Urban Gardens

      The Get Moving Houston Urban Gardens provide hands-on experience in vegetable gardening and urban agriculture to community members and encourage the consumption of local fruits and vegetables.

      Nurse-Family Partnership

      The Nurse-Family Partnership is an evidence-based, community health program for first time mothers. The program is designed to improve pregnancy outcomes by promoting positive health-related behaviors to improve child health, development, and safety by promoting competent care-giving. The mother then receives ongoing nurse-home visits through her child’s second birthday. Nurses adhere to developmentally appropriate guidelines in assessing the child’s growth and development.

      Project Milestone

      Third Saturday of the month, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

      Project Milestone provides parents of children 0-36 months enrolled in WIC and immunization clinics with basic assistance, such as enrollment in insurance, access to a medical home, and the knowledge needed to help solve their child’s health needs. This program is designed to increase immunization and consistent medical care for every child, establish medical homes, assist in navigating the health and human services system, provide basic needs assistance, and enroll clients in an insurance program.

      To qualify for the Harris County Area Agency on Aging senior program, you must be 60 years of age or older. The program focuses on social activities, arts and crafts, and volunteer opportunities within the community. Daily warm lunch offered to pre-registered clients. We offer an array of fun and healthy activities, including but not limited to, line dancing, scrap booking, and wellness workshops.
